The Pole Guard Flex Tube is needed if there is gap between the pole and the Pole Guard plate halves. Most power poles taper as they rise, so if the height of your target Pole Guard installation has a diameter of < 11", you should order this option.  The Flex Tube is a 1.5” diameter flexible tube 38” long and includes 1.5” diameter coupling and 4 cable ties to secure it to the PG plates.   The 38” length is sufficient to wrap 10” to 12” diameter poles, which will fill any gap that might occur on smaller diameter power poles. The flex tube and coupling are mounted above the plate halves to prevent a critter from squirming between the plate halves and the pole.

The Pole Guard Flex Tube is designed for a Critter Guard customer who has a smaller pole of 11 inches diameter or less.

Pole Guard Flex Tube Installation

For power pole applications, Critter Guard recommends this product be installed by qualified power line technicians. This is not absolutely required but is good practice. It is not required to de-power the line. Assure the pole is in good condition. Position the Pole Guard assembly approximately 8 - 12 feet above ground level, or above the lowest point where a “critter” could jump onto the pole. Assure location and height of installation is clear of any objects a critter could use to swing from or grab (i.e., conduits, anchors, spikes).

Installation defects are specifically not covered under the company warranty and are the responsibility of the installer. The company’s liability for any damaged or defective product is limited to the value of the product sale only. No consequential or incidental claims will be accepted, including claims of improper installation or damage caused by improper installation. If in doubt, contact a qualified power line technician.
